Deciphering the Clues—A letter from Tomeji:

Once you collect the letter fragments for Tomeji's Prize, simply follow the clues…

• Clue #1: He has hidden an item of great value in one of Awaji's castles.
• Clue #2: It resides in Yura Castle during winter and summer and Sumoto Castle in spring and autumn.
• Clue #3: It is in the stable kura in Sumoto Castle, or the western storage kura in Yura Castle. 

Two seasonal options:

1. Explore the stable kura at Sumoto Castle during the Spring or Autumn
2. Check the western storage kura at Yura Castle during the Winter or Summer.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When searching the castle's kura for this item, do not look for a chest on the ground. Instead, look up; you are searching for a golden ronin-like hat resting high atop the stacked materials inside the storehouse.

Head north down the main road towards Kannoji Temple. You will pass a bridge and see some treasure on the east side of the road.

As soon as you step close to the treasure, an ambush will begin, where 3-4 Shinobi attack. Fight them, and you'll obtain a letter fragment.

Once you’ve collected all 3 letter fragments for Nowaki's Memento, it’s time to hunt it down by following the leads we’ve uncovered.

Deciphering the Clues- A letter from Nowaki:

• Clue #1: She has constructed a hiding place for her prized kusarigama.
• Clue #2: The trees point the way to her hiding place.
• Clue #3: The path to her hiding place begins at the fork in the road west of Kanaguchi Village, the one with five stone lanterns.

If you wish to follow the clues exactly as intended, the search for this weapon begins at a “starting point with five stone lanterns.” This location is far west of Kanaguchi Village, near the Trail of Eshima map marker, though the path from there can be tricky to follow.

We found an easier, more direct route starting just outside the bounds of Iwaya Castle. Begin at the bridge outside the castle walls, near Samurai Daisho #4. To avoid enemies, bypass the bridge by heading left through the pond and bushes.

You should end up just to the right of the overhead guard tower. Continue south into the woods. You will slide down a slope and eventually reach a giant boulder. Walk to the left of the boulder until you arrive at a small pond. On the left edge of this pond, you will spot a circular nest of twigs. Walk up the small ramp into the nest to claim the treasure.
